Indiana Jones is sent to the future while on an expidetion to Antarctica. Circa 1943. http://stud4.tuwien.ac.at/~e9125985/IJC/Chronicles/Timeline/1922-1960.html

Indiana Jones looked around the icy cavern. "I never dreamed I'd visit Antarctica," he complained to his companion. His voice then became serious. "But then, I never thought anyone would ever find any artifacts here." He stared at the find: a huge, round ring standing upright in the cave. It consisted of two concentric rings. The inner, which seemed to be set into the outer, showed many different glyphs. The outer held nine triangles, evenly dispersed around the ring. Off to their left was a pedastal not more than four feet high with identical glyphs.

The inner ring on the artifact began to spin, some of the nine triangles lighting up. He frowned. This wasn't exactly normal for arifacts; maybe the glowing part--he'd seen that before--but definatly not the moving part. Well, there was that one time... Suddenly, a burst of water-like substance whooshed out from the ring, momentarily engulfing his companion. As it retreated, he looked around for her, but saw absolutely nothing. The tiniest trace of her was absent.

As he stared at the sideways, rippling blue surface suddenly stretching to all sides of the ring, four figures emerged, clad in metal with animal-like heads. A few of them levelled long staffs in his direction, one of which spat out a golden burst of energy before Indiana Jones leapt into action.
